Your mission
As part of our Systems Engineering team in Munich, Germany, you will contribute to the development and integration of spacecraft systems for an upcoming In-Orbit Refueling Demonstration mission. This role provides hands-on experience for the development of mechanical components and assemblies used in-orbit for refueling and fluid transfer. This role offers experience in CAD modeling, mechanical design, structural assessment, manufacturing workflows, and assembly processes, while working closely with a multidisciplinary team. The position is planned for a duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension. We also offer the opportunity to convert the work into a Master’s thesis, with the exact topic tailored to the candidate’s interests and strengths.

- Create and update detailed CAD models and assemblies (CATIA V5 / 3DEXPERIENCE).
- Prepare mechanical drawings, GD&T annotations, and production documentation.
- Perform FEA structural evaluations, stiffness and strength checks.
- Support manufacturability assessments, resources optimization, and tolerance analysis.
- Support test planning and fixture design.
- Perform material selection and trade studies.
- Maintain configuration control of models and drawings.
- Interact with suppliers for manufacturing and procurement.
- Participate in mechanical assembly, integration, and inspection activities.
- Contribute to design reviews, documentation, and interface control.
